Today’s sentence Hi – how’s it going? We’re still looking at the theme of cooking. Leave it to cool down for a while. Notes You have just taken a cake out of the oven, for example. It’s very hot. Before you can eat it, it needs to be cooler (not as hot). So, today’s sentence means: “Leave it for a while so that it will become cooler.” Incidentally, you can use this verb when someone is very angry. You can say, “listen! E.g. You smoke 40 cigarettes and drink 12 cans of beer a day. It’s very bad for your health. This sentence does not mean stop drinking and smoking. It means drink and smoke less than you currently do. Maybe you can cut down to 20 cigarettes a day and 6 cans of beer! We’ll look at the last in this series tomorrow. Bye for now!
